Why is the cost of lighting a total mystery?

To put it generically, there are several projects where the other side of this — what we haven't really talked about — is getting actual breakdowns from the lighting distributors on where the cost is being driven.

It's a closed curtain. We just don't get it. And that's one of the reasons why it's such a difficult conversation: we have to go blindly back and say, "How can we get the number down?"
