The first realization for me was when I saw what it did to myself. Like a lot of my students at university, I was studying indoors in a library. I measured the library later — it was 27 lux, way underlit compared to what you actually need. But I didn't know anything about that until I met my professors.
After seeing a few studies about how light improves recovery and general productivity, I was really interested and I just decided to dig in further.
